First Couple Weeks!
I started working with Kandy Stroud of Stroud and Associates on Thursday, August 30th, 2007. I've completed 40 hours so far. There are a few events that I am assisting in planning that are coming up really soon. We have a case against a medication called Fleet’s Phospho-Soda that have over 50 lawsuits around the country that we are trying to get out on in the media. Our client is one of the lawyers for the case, Kalbian Hagerty, LLP, and we’re helping their case get out on radios and television stations. I read about the product and it’s terrible side affects. I’ve contacted a few radio stations, but I haven’t found any that is completely interested in the story yet. We don’t have the press release yet, so it’s harder to get the radio stations interested anyway. I also spoke to Retirement Living Television about the story, to see if they would be interested about getting the story on air. Another event we have coming up is trying to promote a book called the Blue Way: How to Profit by Investing in a Better World by Daniel de Faro Adamson and Joe Andrew, the Former National Chair of the Democratic National Committee in 1999. Joe Andrew contacted Kandy for her experience in promotions by media tours. I read up on the book and what it’s about. It’s really interesting to see how the Blue Companies are making a lot of profit. I also looked at their website, www.theblueway.com. We haven’t started contacting anyone for this yet, especially because we’re still waiting for Joe Andrew to contact Kandy once again to confirm plans. Our most important event we have coming up is a radio row for Families USA, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the achievement of high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans. We’re in the process of getting many radio stations to confirm for the event. I’m making all the phone calls, and creating folders, and time slot sheets for their shows. This is really exciting because Families USA is going to be holding their annual conference, Health Action 2008. With health being a huge topic this year with the upcoming elections, this is going to be a very important event. We haven’t started to contact guest speakers, but we know we’ll have some really good speakers. We’ve gotten some radio stations time slots already set up, such as the Howard Monroe show and the Joe Elliot Show. This is definitely building my skills in communication. I am learning how to speak to certain people and how to organize big events. I’m also slowly learning how to get messages circulating out there by using the media. In addition to these tasks, I also am the official coffee and water getter, and the errand runner.
